

Here's a nice sold red/maroon S. rosea. Unlike a lot of locations in
Baldwin County, S. rosea is readily seen here,
even though it may be on the move around the bog. It can even clump into a dense
stand in some parts of this location.
In many other bogs, they can be difficult to see, and exist more as single
plants spotted here and there. The best
example of S. rosea from Baldwin County and nearby areas seem to be sites
where the ground is quite cleared, and
where the soil moisture level is very high, yet the plant does not receive
prolonged submersion in water due to flooding.
