This is a form of S. leucophylla that I will be spending some time with this
week.
The pitcher has a pronounced spout, and wide flaring mouth, and very small ala
down the front of the tube. The pitcher suddenly narrows greatly below the mouth
and rim area.
This gives it very nice "flava"
characteristics. The
lower pitcher tube can be "black cherry" dark.
The white coloration is extremely
crisp.
Note the water level in the pitcher to the right. Most upright pitchers of
this height would fall
over from the weight of the water when it gets this high, but due to this
pitchers unique form,
it stands firm. The wide flaring mouth enables a lot of water to get trapped in
the pitcher, especially
after a heavy rain storm such as Arlene which passed by just hours beforehand.
