Update  - February 8th,  2010

Howdy Everyone!

We woke up this morning to 5" of snow, so we will have to hold off shipping orders out this week.

Things are really picking up around here after a rather slow winter season.  In a couple of weeks, the temperatures in our area should moderate so that we can resume shipping on a regular and un-interrupted schedule.

   Exotica Plant New Import

We are putting together a new import for Exotica Plants, which will become import #75.  This import will likely ship with import #72. Check the upcoming import page to see the plants we are bringing in on these imports.  I will be adding to import #75 over the next few days, so more plants will be added to it over time. As soon as we believe the temperatures across much of the nation will be warm enough to ship to, we will schedule the imports in. Dont forget to snipe the plants you want, and as usual, if you see anything on the EP website that you would like that we dont currently have set up, send an email  to info@CPJUNGLE.com and we'll get the plant set up for you.

   Borneo Exotics Import #73

We should be getting a final confirmation i nthe next few days for the plants on BE import #73. Once we receive confirmation, we will release the plants to the snipe list.  Remember, this is your last chance to purchase the N. truncata Queen of hearts x King of Spades seedling plants.  If you want one of these, make sure you get on the snipe list. We'll order as many as we can, but when they are gone, they are gone.

   Winter Shipping

Our shipping system is tied into Weather.com's 7 day forecast, so we can see temperature data for a week out for your area. (Data is obtained by zip-code)  Each shipping day we review each order which is ready to be shipped to determine if the temperatures will be warm enough to allow for safe shipping.

Some plants are more sensitive to low temps than others. Some lowlanders need temps that are above 40F for safe shipping with the uni-heats. Each order is analyzed against the current temps for the ship-to area in order to determine if it is safe to ship the plants.

If you have an order that is weather delayed, just know that we will ship as soon as we see a window of opportunity as far as the temps are concerned, and we check them every shipping morning.  Our temperature forecast from weather.com is updated every hour with new data.

New Borneo Exotics Plants On Import #73

There are a number of new species and varieties now available for sniping.  You can see a list of these plants on the upcoming imports page, under import #73.  A quick list is as follows:

N. bicalcarata  Sarawak Giant - These are some very large pitchering plants, with mostly darker coloration.  We offer both the tc plants, which are available from 8 clones, and seed grown plants.  The seed grown plants are slightly more expensive, and are only available in very limited quantity.

N. bicalcarata "red short thorn" - Pitchers are red flush with teeth half of the size of normal. The plant may be of hybrid origin.

N. adnata

N. kongkandana - Seed grown plants.  A newly named plant from Thailand. Very limited availabbility.

N. neoguinensis

N. northiana - We are now able to get quantities of these plants, so the N1 sized plants have been reduced by $5 to $19.99.

N. thai - Another new species from seed, and in very limited quantities.

N. treubiana - A fantastic species. We will offer plants from seed and from tissue culture.

N. xhookeriana red - Red hookerianas are amongst my favorite Nepenthes, but have been rather expensive in the past. We are now able to offer them at a low cost.

Also, we will be bringing in the last batch f the N. truncata "Queen of Hearts x King of Spades."  If you want to reserve one or more of these plants, set up a snipe for it now.  This will be the last of these plants for at least a couple of years.

We also are bringing in some additional new plants on this import which were already listed, such as ampullaria "borneo sunset", bicalcarata x ampullaria, and ampullaria x sibuyanensis.

    Import #56

The plants from BE import #56 have been shipped to all those whose temperatures were warm enough to ship to.  Some locations will have a "window" open up later this week, and we will continue to ship thru the week to anyone whose temperatures look like they will be warm enough when the plants arrive.

We are including a Uni-Heat in each of these orders if needed, even if one wasn't specified on the order. The nice thing about the Uni-Heats is that they allow us to reliably ship into very cold temperatures with no problem. We utilized the 72 Hour (3 day) Uni-Heats last winter, and didn't have a single problem with an order.

A few locations are so cold that it may be a week or so before it warms up enough to ship to.  We'll ship as soon as we find a window of opportunity.

New Plant Packing / Shipping Stations Completed

We are very excited about upgrading our packing and shipping stations. We have added 2 new packing stations, and 2 additional shipping stations.  These new stations will allow us to process 150-200 orders per day.  Although a typical shipping day may only see about 10% of that volume of orders, we can easily process more than 100 orders when a large import arrives.  Also, since our number of imports are increasing, there is more and more of a chance that two will arrive simultaneously.  So these new stations will allow us to receive multi imports and quickly get everything processed and back out the door extremely quickly.

   EP Import #72

Exotica Plants import #72 has been delayed.  I will update everyone as soon as I have a new date for arrival.

   UniHeats

We have started adding 72 hour Uniheat box heaters to all orders. These box warmers to a fantastic job of protecting the plants during winter transit, and allows us to ship into much colder temperatures.  If you live in an area that doesnt need a uniheat, you can request us to remove it. They will be automatically added to each order, and is required for the live plant guarantee, but certain areas of the country wouldnt need to have one.   The uniheats cost $2 each.

Let Us Know If You See Something You Want

If there are plants from Exotica Plants, Borneo Exotics, or Malesiana Tropicals that you want, you may request them by setting up a plant snipe for it. If there is a plant EP, BE, or MT has that we don't currently have set up in our catalog for sniping, then send us an email at info@cpjungle.com and we will add it to our system, then you may set up a snipe for it.     Click Here to read up on plant sniping.   In order to snipe a plant, you must be logged in.  You also must have ordered previously from us.  If you have not yet ordered from us, but would like to set up  plant snipe, email me at info@cpjungle.com and I will manually set up your sniping capabilities.
